Benefactor
This year, the race proceeds and donations will benefit the Federation of Fire Chaplains, an organization that supports and ministers to public safety officials of all races and creeds. This organization was founded in 1978 and is a non-profit, professional organization whose mission is to unite chaplains interested in providing professional chaplaincies to public safety organizations. This is accomplished by the sharing of ideas and concerns with each other that will ultimately benefit our noble public safety officials. They serve those who serve the public as firefighters/EMTs and police officers. And for the first time in 21 years, the FFC annual conference will be held in Atlanta. With the rise in the need for EMS, Fire, and Police services, there are many that have become over encumbered with stressors. This has caused many individuals to leave their respective professions. Even more alarming is the fact that public safety officials are 5 times more likely to take their own lives. This year’s race is holding a two-pronged approach; for runners/walkers of all types to come together and compete, and to raise awareness of the alarming facts presented in the previous sentences. For more information on about the FFC, please visit https://ffc.wildapricot.org.
