Most of us fail before we even start towards a goal because we lack belief in ourselves. If you don’t believe you can achieve something, how can you expect to follow through? Well, I can get back in shape while busy. I have done it before. It is all about priorities. Someone busier than me is out there achieving their fitness goals right now. My excuses are just that, excuses.
“I am so, so, so, so busy!” This thought shoots through my head all day long and I replace it with, “I am getting organized.” I call this mental gymnastics because I try to constantly reframe all my negative thoughts with more positive ones. My head is a very active place and I am convinced that this is why I am so tired all the time, lol. I am a believer that what you tell yourself is what you believe. Henry Ford’s saying “Whether you think you can or you think you can’t you’re right” speaks to me. Believing these excuses is not good for my health and wellness journey.
We had our Triathlon info meeting last Saturday and we got to meet Coach Holly and Lee. I was excited to see how many ladies showed interest in participating. My hope is to have a group that bonds with each other and adopts an encouraging attitude so we can cheer each other on in our goals. We can hold each other accountable. We can share our triumphs and fears with each other.
Many of you have expressed your concerns about the lake swim. Holly explained that our target race on August 11th uses swim angels. These swim angels are sweet ladies in white caps in the water that ease our fears and safely get us through the 400-yard swim. 400 yards is four football fields. I can’t swim across my neighborhood pool, but I have no doubt that with a little determination, positive thoughts, a training plan, and the three open water swim clinics, I will be able to swim the distance by the race on August 11th. That is what I am telling myself. So, if you want to do this, you can. Stop with the excuses and sign up! Let’s crush this dream together.
Oh, and by the way, I have learned that you can walk the 5k. So those of you who aren’t runners, just relax. You can achieve this too! Now get moving and let’s dive in to this lovely training plan on May 20th and achieve this feat together.
